Fasken Partners with Black Boys Code as Official Legal Services Provider

Reading Time 2 minute read

Toronto (Canada) – Fasken confirmed today its sponsorship agreement with Black Boys Code (BBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to introducing Black youth to the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) disciplines with a focus on computer science. The Firm will provide the organization with a financial contribution along with in-kind legal services and providing laptops for the laptop program.

“Fasken is committed to advancing greater diversity and inclusion in our communities. Through this partnership we have the opportunity to support the engagement of Black youth in coding and technology,” says Andrew Nunes, Fasken Partner and Head of the Ontario region and National IT Groups. “Black Boys Code is affecting positive change with their educational program of inclusiveness, encouragement, and empowerment that inspires Black youth to lead in the digital world.”

BBC’s mission goes beyond teaching how to code, it is inspiring a generation of Black youth by helping them develop digital literacy and computer competence—the foundation of a path towards a career in technology.

“There is a real diversity gap in the computer sciences and other related fields. Our Vision is for Black youth to identify the skills and talents they possess so that they can realize their full potential, preparing them for success as tomorrow’s technology leaders and innovators,” says Bryan Johnson, Founder and CEO, Black Boys Code.
