Gerry is the Chair of Fasken Martineau's litigation department in Ontario and the former Head of the firm's ADR Practice group. He conducts a broad practice in all aspects of civil, administrative and commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on professional negligence, pensions, cross-border issues, shareholder rights, banking, insurance, real estate, product liability, and employment matters. He has appeared in all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada, the Supreme Court of Canada, and before various administrative boards and tribunals. Gerry has appeared as counsel in both domestic and international commercial arbitrations and mediations.
Gerry is an approved Senior Counsel to LAWPRO, the insurer which provides liability insurance, and defence counsel, to lawyers in Ontario. Gerry's clients include PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (in Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean), Intact (formerly ING Canada Inc.), Desjardins Securities Inc., Northrop Grumman, Goodrich Aerospace, and SwissRe.
Gerry has a particular interest in ADR and he is often retained to resolve complex, multi-party disputes. He is the Canadian representative on the Executive Committee of the New York-based CPR Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution, which guides CPR's national programs to promote innovation and excellence in public and private conflict management and to serve as a primary multi-national resource for the resolution of business-related disputes.
Gerry lectures on a wide variety of topics ranging from commercial litigation and ADR issues to managing exposure in regulatory investigations.
