Marie-Josée Neveu is a partner who specializes in corporate and securities law. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies and corporate financing. She acts as legal advisor in the context of various transactions, including takeover bids, private mergers and acquisitions, as well as statutory arrangements, and represents public companies, underwriters and investors in the course of public offerings and private placement financings. Marie-Josée also counsels boards of directors and special committees, as well as executive officers and significant shareholders, on a wide range of transactions and on matters pertaining to disclosure, shareholder proposals, proxy fights, corporate governance and other issues of interest to companies in general.
Marie-Josée specializes in commercial law, more specifically in the area of mergers and acquisitions and securities. She has collaborated on a number of complex transactions on behalf of large corporations such as Telesystem International Wireless Inc., Rogers Communications Inc. and Cascades Inc. She has developed particular expertise in hostile takeover bids and has represented various parties in high-profile transactions, such as the sale of CANMARC Real Estate Investment Trust, the sale of Cossette Inc., the sale of the Alexis Nihon REIT, the proposed acquisition by Rogers Communications Inc. of Vidéotron Ltée., the hostile takeover bid by Armstrong World Industries of Domco Tarkett Inc., the hostile takeover bid of Cogeco Cable ltée. for CFCF Inc. and the hostile takeover bid of CGI Group Inc. for Cognicase Inc.
