On June 30, 2006, Cedar Fair, L.P. of Sandusky, Ohio, which owns and operates seven amusement parks and five water parks, acquired Paramount Parks Inc. from CBS Corporation for US$1.24 billion.
The five Paramount Parks include Canada's Wonderland near Toronto; King's Island near Cincinnati, Ohio; King's Dominion near Richmond, Virginia; Carowinds near Charlotte, North Carolina; and Great America located in Santa Clara, California.
Fasken Martineau was Canadian counsel to Cedar Fair L.P. with a team led by Doug Scott, and including Kathleen Yoa (corporate), Ralph Nero (employment), Richard Johnston (pensions and benefits), Huy Do (competition), May Cheng and Elizabeth Gouthro (intellectual property), William Bies (tax), Rosalind Cooper (environmental) and Paul King (real estate).
