Transcontinental Media acquires Italian-language newspaper Corriere Italiano

On December 20, 2007, Transcontinental Media announced it had acquired the Italian-language weekly newspaper Corriere Italiano, which serves the Italian community in the Montréal area. The acquisition brings Transcontinental Media's newspaper total to 171 community publications across Canada. It is the first time that Transcontinental will publish a newspaper in a language other than English or French. Corriere Italiano was advised in this sale by a team from Fasken Martineau that included Robert Paré and Marie-Josée Vincelli (corporate/M&A), Thomas Copeland (tax) and Elias Retsinas (real estate).
