Overview

Client

FortisBC Inc.

FortisBC Inc., the second largest electric utility in BC, constructs and operates EV charging stations across its service territory, as supported by government policy and regulation. FortisBC applied for the rate design and rates to charge customers for the EV charging service at these stations.

As EV charging is a novel service for a public utility, the application was the first of its kind in Canada.

After an extensive public regulatory process, FortisBC was granted approval for the rate design and rates for the EV charging service on November 30, 2021.

Chris Bystrom and Tariq Ahmed (Energy) were lead regulatory counsel for FortisBC.
