On December 2025, Seneca Polytechnic, a leading institution in applied arts and technology education, completed the substantial performance of a significant redevelopment project at its Newnham campus in Toronto. This project involved the creation of a multi-storey, 100,000-square-foot Health & Wellness Centre. Fasken, acting as lead counsel, played a pivotal role in guiding Seneca Polytechnic through the project's phases, including title due diligence, procurement consultation, contract negotiations, and securing necessary approvals from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities under Section 28 of the Financial Administration Act.
The new facility replaces outdated gymnasium and fitness amenities, incorporating the former student centre area. It represents Seneca Polytechnic’s commitment to sustainability and Indigenous design, featuring mass timber structural elements. The project aims to set a standard for sustainable development and architectural expression.
This redevelopment is significant as it aligns with Seneca Polytechnic’s goals of promoting sustainability and Indigenous architectural themes while enhancing student services and facilities. It underscores Seneca Polytechnic's dedication to providing state-of-the-art infrastructure that supports holistic student well-being and community engagement.
Fasken advised Seneca Polytechnic with a team that included Robert Iaccino (Real Estate. Construction) and Edward Lynde (Construction and Infrastructure).
