Irene Lai is an Articling Student in Fasken's Toronto office.
Irene is a graduate of the joint JD/MBA program, with a Finance Specialization, at Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business where she stood on the Dean’s Honour List and was awarded the JD/MBA Joint Students’ Association Award. She served as Co-President of the JD/MBA Students’ Association and was the recipient of the Alison J. Youngman/Stikeman Elliott Renewable Entrance Award in recognition of her academic achievement and passion for volunteerism. She is also an alum of the Institute for the Future of Law Practice, a multi-week training boot camp in Chicago focused on entrepreneurial and technology-based skills. Prior to law school, Irene obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication and Business (Co-op), with a Human Resources Management Minor and a Global Experience Certificate at the University of Waterloo, where she graduated as Valedictorian and achieved the highest academic standing among her class. As a member of the school’s competitive dragon boat team, she won a Silver Medal at the 2016 Canadian Dragon Boat Championships. Irene’s experience includes working as an Intern with Fasken’s Emerging Technology group, a Caseworker for the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic, an Oralist at the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law Moot, an Access to Justice Software Tester for Community Legal Education Ontario, a Commercialization Associate for Innovation York, and a Teaching Assistant for various law and business courses. Irene enjoys travelling, fitness, and trying new activities.
Irene summered at the firm in 2021 and was seconded to the Canadian Olympic Committee.
