Overview

Paul’s practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, corporate and commercial matters, and project development.

Paul's experience includes advising clients regarding private and public M&A, including share purchases, asset purchases, and plans of arrangement. His experience also includes other complex and high value commercial contracts and arrangements such as commodity purchase and sale agreements, corporate restructurings, joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, and project development agreements. He also has experience advising corporate directors regarding their fiduciary duties and other potential liabilities in various contexts, including M&A, nominee directors, and corporate compliance programs. He also has experience in various manner of shareholder disputes.

Paul has particular experience in large natural resource and energy projects, including liquified natural gas (LNG) projects. He also has particular experience in international transactions, including large foreign investment projects and transactions. Paul prides himself on being strategic, responsive and efficient. 

Prior to joining Fasken, Paul was an M&A Partner at another premier national law firm in Calgary. He is called to the bar in Alberta (2011), New York State (2009, non-practicing) and New South Wales (2007, non-practicing), and has worked in England, South Africa, Japan and Australia.
