Overview

Steven Brassard is an associate with the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in Fasken’s Québec City office. He focuses his practice on the most sensitive and high-stakes financial matters, including fraud, asset recovery, shareholder disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency, where a swift response is often critical.

He regularly acts for companies and financial institutions facing embezzlement and sophisticated fraudulent schemes, with a clear objective: freezing, tracing and recovering assets as quickly as possible. Steven is known for his extensive experience in cases involving extraordinary remedies—including safeguard orders, seizures before judgment (pre‑judgment remedies), and Mareva and Norwich injunctions—which he leverages on behalf of his clients to freeze assets, compel the disclosure of key information and regain control of critical situations.

In addition, Steven has deep experience in bankruptcy and corporate restructuring and advises on complex insolvency matters that involve litigation or require strategic guidance.

The breadth of his practice is reflected in his recognition since 2024 in the Best Lawyers directory under the “Ones to Watch in Canada” category for Commercial and Corporate Litigation, Real Estate Law and Construction Law.
