Overview

Andrew Alleyne is Vice‑Chair of Fasken’s Technology Law group for the Ontario region and focuses on technology‑driven corporate and commercial transactions. He advises clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to emerging technology businesses on the complexities of commercializing, acquiring, and implementing advanced technology solutions, including in the rapidly evolving area of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions development and usage. Andrew has deep experience with large‑scale outsourcing arrangements, including bancassurance, as well as cloud and SaaS deployments, software licensing, transition services agreements, and the technology components of mergers and acquisitions.

Andrew frequently assists clients across technology, media, e‑commerce, financial services, healthcare, mining, transportation, and communications sectors, offering pragmatic guidance on business‑critical transactions and risk allocation. His practice also includes advising on a wide range of internet and e‑commerce matters, including legal and regulatory issues relating to online gambling in Canada. His strategic, solutions‑oriented approach is informed by substantial in‑house experience, including secondments with CTVglobemedia (now Bell Media) and the procurement team at TELUS, where he gained insight into operational, procurement, and technology implementation realities.

Highly experienced in technology contracting, Andrew supports clients through every stage of the technology lifecycle, from acquisition and deployment to integration, negotiation, and dispute‑avoidance strategies. He regularly advises foreign companies establishing Canadian operations and supports cross‑border technology transactions and regulatory considerations. Andrew’s understanding of both the legal and commercial aspects of technology transactions makes him a trusted counsellor for organizations navigating evolving digital, cloud, and platform‑based business models.

Andrew is recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada, Chambers, the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and the Lexology Index as a leading information technology lawyer, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Technology Law (2026) by Best Lawyers. He contributes actively to the technology law community as immediate past President of CAN‑TECH Law and Chair of the ABA’s Cross‑Border Law and Technology Subcommittee. He is also a past Chair of the Toronto Computer Lawyers Group and has long served in leadership roles supporting the Black professional community, including with the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers and the Black Professionals in Technology Network.
