Alexis Shamess graduated from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, she obtained a Master of Arts in Political Science, specializing in Constitutional Law from the University of Waterloo, where she was on the Dean’s Honour List and was the recipient of the President’s Varsity Athlete Academic Award. During the summer of 2018, Alexis completed an internship with Fasken’s Antitrust/Competition Group. Her prior work experience includes working as a Policy and Data Analyst for the Ontario Ministry of Education, and Health Policy Analyst for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. She was a Policy Intern for the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. She also worked as a Legal Intern at a business law firm in Melbourne, Australia. At law school, Alexis was an Assistant Editor of The Ottawa Law Review. She was also a Caseworker for uOttawa’s Health Law Clinic. She volunteered for Pro Bono Students Canada, for an organization called “Reach Canada,” which provides legal services for people with disabilities. During her master’s degree studies, she was the Senior Editor of the University of Waterloo’s Student Journal as well as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Political Science. Alexis was a varsity soccer player at the University of Waterloo. Alexis enjoys running, playing tennis and soccer, as well as exploring art galleries, and listening to podcasts.

Alexis summered at the Firm in 2019 and was seconded to Fasken’s London office.
