Bontle Bopape is a senior associate in the Finance and Projects team in Johannesburg. Bontle has experience is transactional banking, having provided support to international banks as well as various large and blue-chip companies locally, and the preparation and execution of cross-border facility agreements and related security. In addition to transactional banking work, Bontle also advises on financial regulatory regime in South Africa. She also has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, BEE and general corporate and commercial advice.
Bontle's experience includes reviewing and advising on various facility agreements and pledge/cession agreements in respect of cross border facilities provided to South African corporate borrowers.
Part of a team advising various multinational banks and a development finance institution on compliance and financial sector laws such as the Financial Sector Regulation Act, Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, and the Financial Markets Act.
In addition Bontle advises on exchange control requirements for inward loans and provision of security by South African companies in favour of foreign lenders.
