Christine Tabbert is General Counsel at Fasken and a member of the Firm’s leadership team. She advises the Firm’s leadership on legal, governance, risk, compliance, and professional responsibility matters and oversees key aspects of the Firm’s legal affairs and legal risk management functions. In this role, she works closely with other members of Fasken’s leadership team on strategic and operational issues affecting the business of the Firm.
Christine’s relationship with Fasken spans her entire legal career. She began as an articling student and associate, later became a partner in the Litigation group, and served as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Litigation Department. In that role, she contributed to departmental strategy and led initiatives relating to business development, litigation technology and case management.
After leaving private practice, Christine held senior legal, regulatory, government and operational leadership roles. She advised executive leadership teams and boards in highly regulated environments, served in senior positions within the federal government, and led teams responsible for regulatory enforcement and operations. These experiences provided her with a broad understanding of how organizations manage legal, regulatory, reputational and business risk from a variety of perspectives.
Christine returned to Fasken in 2023 as Associate General Counsel, Risk & Compliance, advising on firmwide legal, regulatory, governance, reputational and professional responsibility risk and leading the Firm’s Compliance Operations function. She was appointed General Counsel in 2026.
Drawing on more than 25 years of experience in legal, governance, regulatory and operational leadership roles, Christine brings a practical and well-rounded perspective to complex legal, governance and risk issues. Her career has given her the opportunity to advise organizations, regulate them, lead within them and support their most senior decision-makers. This breadth of experience enables her to approach challenges with an appreciation for both legal principles and business realities. She is known for her sound judgment, collaborative leadership style, and ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable advice for senior decision-makers.
