Overview

Danika Kotylak is a corporate and intellectual property lawyer in Fasken's Vancouver office, with a practice focused on advising startups, emerging growth companies, and investors across Canada’s venture tech ecosystem. She supports clients throughout their business lifecycle, from formation through to fundraising, commercial scaling, and eventual exit, offering strategic legal advice on corporate structuring, venture financing, technology commercialization, and IP protection.

Danika began her legal career at a distinguished boutique business law firm in Vancouver and spent the past 3.5 years at a multinational law firm as a member of the Corporate and Intellectual Property and Technology groups. Her work spans venture deals, SaaS and licensing agreements, M&A, and day-to-day commercial contracting. With a strong understanding of both transactional strategy and the unique challenges facing innovative companies, Danika is known for delivering practical, business-minded solutions that empower founders and investors alike.

Prior to law, Danika completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa while competing as a Division I NCAA water polo athlete. She earned her J.D. from Thompson Rivers University.

Outside of work you’ll find Danika outdoors, hiking, backcountry camping, skiing, or reading on the beach whenever there’s sunshine to be found.
