Dongwoo Kim is an associate in Fasken’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Group.
He supports clients across sectors on privacy compliance and cybersecurity matters, including advising on privacy and data protection policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Dongwoo has also assisted public and private sector clients in ransomware and email compromise incidents, gaining practical experience in breach response.
Dongwoo graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, where he received several academic awards and was actively involved in the Faculty of Law Review and the Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Group. During this time, he also collaborated with academics on research projects at the intersection of artificial intelligence and law.
Before law school, Dongwoo completed graduate studies in politics and led a research program at a leading think tank focused on emerging technologies and Canada’s foreign policy. He organized policy workshops and conferences on technology governance in Asia and Canada and authored several research reports, engaging government, academic, and industry stakeholders.
Born in South Korea and having spent nearly a decade in Latin America, Dongwoo is fluent in Korean and Spanish, and continues to work on his French and Mandarin Chinese.
