Evan Conover is an associate in the Firm’s Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Group, with a practice focused on private M&A, and a particular emphasis on private equity transactions. He advises privately held companies across a broad range of industries on both domestic and cross-border transactions.
Evan regularly acts for clients throughout the M&A lifecycle, from structuring and negotiation to closing and post-transaction integration. He brings a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to negotiation and works closely with financial advisors, business valuators, and tax professionals to help deliver value-driven outcomes to his clients.
Evan’s practice extends to corporate governance, fund formation, and strategic investments and partnerships. He actively advises on the structuring and formation of investment vehicles and funds, supporting clients through capital raises, governance matters, and exit strategies.
Evan attended law school at the University of Ottawa, graduating on the Dean’s Honour List. During his academic career, he developed foundational business acumen through internships with Manulife Financial, First National Financial Corporation, and the Bank of Nova Scotia, and also interned for a member of Parliament. He summered with the in-house legal team at RPM Technologies and completed his articles with Fasken before joining the firm as an associate in 2019. Evan has previously been seconded to the corporate legal department at Intact Insurance, assisting with acquisitions.
Evan is a member of the Firm’s AI Collective, where he helps evaluate and implement AI driven tools that streamline due diligence and deal workflows to enhance efficiency and client service. He is also a guest lecturer at Osgoode’s M&A Bootcamp and remains actively involved in the Firm’s annual Client Ski Day and its participation in the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation Ride.
