The Mining industry is under constant pressure to increase operating efficiencies and to sustain and increase product output. Technological solutions are deployed to, among other matters, maintain and improve on operations, reduce costs and capitalize on the digital wealth of data derived from mining and related operations. However, successfully selecting, implementing and operating technology solutions of all sorts poses particular challenges, including in respect of planning for and addressing material contractual risks, data and cyber security management, and the facilitation of data analytics (from the customer and provider perspectives). This session will review current legal and practical trends in the application of technology solutions (such as communications, ERP, and advanced AI and robotics solutions) from the RFP to the contract execution and implementation stages.
