This session will provide an update on developments in Indigenous law that are impacting mineral exploration, mine development and mining operations in Canada. The session will cover significant recent cases in Indigenous law, explore the latest trends in project-related agreements between mining companies and Indigenous communities, survey the implementation of UNDRIP by Canadian jurisdictions, and review the changing role of Indigenous groups in federal and provincial environmental assessment processes.
