This session will provide an overview of remining of tailings or waste rock and its potential to reshape the industry and improve social license, including consideration of issues such as regulation, environmental impact, sustainability, financing, strategic partnerships and Indigenous participation.
We will discuss mining with a “full circle” mindset; innovation in business models and regulation; and the opportunity for participation of Indigenous peoples. We will explore the potential to use proceeds of metals recovery from mine waste to fund reclamation; the role of new and current technology; and the potential to generate funding for nature improvement. The session will be grounded in real project examples.
