Overview

As governments and project participants in Canada – both Indigenous and non-Indigenous – work to advance major projects of national interest in response to global economic shifts and the growing demand for critical minerals, Indigenous equity participation is increasingly seen as a key mechanism for achieving more predictable, timely and successful project outcomes. At the same time, Indigenous equity participation presents unique challenges and considerations that differ from other co-ownership scenarios.

This session will examine new opportunities for Indigenous ownership, investment, and participation in major projects. The discussion will focus on the role of Indigenous equity for major projects in Canada’s mining sector. Panelists will provide practical insights into emerging financing models, structuring and transactional considerations, and effective strategies for successful collaboration.
