Overview

Client

FortisBC Energy Inc.

FortisBC Energy Inc., the largest gas distribution utility in the province, applied for and received from the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) acceptance of $627 million in Demand Side Management expenditures from 2024 to 2027.

The demand-side management expenditures were a significant increase in expenditures reflecting a move from convention to advanced demand-side management, such as gas heat pumps, dual-fuel hybrid heating systems, and deeper retrofits.

Chris Bystrom (Energy) and Niall Rand (Energy) acted as lead counsel for FortisBC providing full regulatory support.
