On April 28, 2026, Appetronix, a Toronto‑based developer of fully autonomous robotic kitchens, completed the acquisition of Cibotica, a Canadian food robotics company specializing in automated ingredient dispensing and salad and bowl assembly technology.
The transaction brought Cibotica’s proprietary platform and flagship automated assembly system under Appetronix’s ownership, with financial terms not publicly disclosed. The acquisition followed a period of collaboration between the two companies and was undertaken to address growing operational pressures in the foodservice sector, including labour shortages, rising costs, and the need for increased throughput. Cibotica’s technology, designed to integrate into existing restaurant layouts and capable of assembling a high volume of customized meals with precision, complemented Appetronix’s focus on fully autonomous food preparation environments. By combining their respective platforms, Appetronix enhanced its ability to scale robotic kitchen concepts across multiple cuisine types, extending beyond its established pizza operations into formats such as bowls and salads.
The transaction positioned Appetronix to deploy robotics solutions in both standalone autonomous kitchens and retrofitted existing restaurant settings, supporting faster growth and broader commercial deployment.
