We act as counsel for Cermaq on various matters. Cermaq operates a number of fish farm facilities on the east and west coast of Vancouver Island.  In late 2017, this included bringing an application for an injunction against a group of individuals to prevent them from entering their fish farm facilities and intimidating their staff. The individuals claimed Aboriginal rights to monitor Cermaq’s activities in their territory.

Cermaq’s injunction application was granted for all 8 of Cermaq’s facilities located in the Broughton Archipelago (2017 BCSC 2526).

Fasken advised Cermaq Canada with a team that included Kevin O'Callaghan, Bridget Gilbride and Dani Bryant.
