Lapierre is the majority shareholder in G.A.L. Power, a company which supplies backup generators to major institutions. A recent audit of several construction projects at the Ottawa Hospital has allegedly uncovered a number of irregularities in the tendering of contracts. The hospital has sued several contractors and suppliers (including Lapierre) alleging a conspiracy to defraud the hospital and has referred their evidence to the Ottawa Police Service. The Competition Bureau is also likely to be involved. Patrick McCann is dealing with the police and Competition Bureau investigations and Peter Mantas is dealing with the civil suit.
