As a Partner in Fasken’s Banking and Finance Group, James-Scott Lee advises banks, financial institutions, private lenders and borrowers on structuring, negotiating and executing complex financing transactions. He is trusted for practical, business-minded counsel that helps clients deploy capital efficiently while managing risk and supporting long-term growth.

James has extensive experience across syndicated and bilateral financings, private equity–backed transactions, project and acquisition finance, asset-based and reserve-based lending, restructurings, and cross-border transactions. This includes advising on Indigenous financings supported by provincial loan guarantee programs, such as those administered by the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation, helping clients navigate program requirements, align transaction structures, and execute efficiently through closing and post-closing.

His practice spans a broad range of industries, including energy and natural resources, technology, real estate, and infrastructure. Drawing on that diverse experience, James helps clients anticipate issues early and develop pragmatic solutions aligned with their business objectives.
