Jean-François Maurice is an associate in the Corporate/Commercial group in our Montréal office. His practice focuses on venture capital and private equity financing as well as mergers and acquisitions, especially for technology companies.
Jean-François assists investors and companies in achieving their goals by providing pragmatic, creative legal solutions aligned with their business objectives. When advising clients and acting on their behalf in deals, he is known for an approach that combines strategic vision with a deep understanding of their business realities.
He advises companies through all stages of growth, from seed-stage startups to established companies, and advises leading investors across Québec and Canada. His client work includes private equity and venture capital financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and secondary sales. He also advises clients on strategic commercial agreements, including in the software-as-a-service (SaaS) segment. He takes a results-oriented approach focused on business issues, his clients’ strategic interests, and long-term value creation.
Jean-François has an in-depth knowledge of the tech ecosystem, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence, software-as-a-service, life sciences, clean technology and health technology. His experience also extends to more traditional sectors of the economy, allowing him to adapt his approach to a wide range of business models and realities.
