Overview

Jean Michel Lapierre practises business law, with a leading expertise in mergers & acquisitions, capital markets and securities law.

Jean Michel has been involved in several major acquisition, sale, merger or going-private transactions of publicly-traded companies, including friendly and hostile take-over bids and complex statutory arrangements. He has also been involved in a large number of private M&A transactions.

He has acted on behalf of issuers, securities dealers and institutional investors in various securities offerings, including initial public offerings, other prospectus offerings and private placements. He has also acted for financial institutions in connection with issuances of structured products.

His practice includes advising publicly-traded companies concerning corporate and securities matters, including compliance with continuous disclosure obligations, proxy solicitation for shareholder meetings, the launch of share buyback programs and the implementation of securities-based compensation arrangements, and assisting them in their interactions with stock exchanges and securities regulators.

Jean Michel joined the firm in 2005 and was admitted to the firm’s partnership in 2013. He currently acts as the Co-Leader of our Montreal Business Law Group.

Jean Michel is a member of the Corporate Finance Advisory Committee of the Autorité des marchés financiers (Quebec). He is recognized as a leading lawyer by various publications and rankings, including Chambers Canada, Legal 500, IFLR 1000, The Best Lawyers in Canada, Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer.
