Julie He is an associate in the Firm’s Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisitions Group, with a practice focused on corporate transactions, including private M&A and private equity. She advises public and privately held companies as well as investors—both domestic and international—on a range of complex commercial matters, including share and asset purchases, corporate reorganizations, and strategic investments.
Julie’s in-depth knowledge in technology and commercial law enhances her transactional work, particularly in deals involving digital assets or technology-driven business models. With a strong foundation in IT contracting, privacy compliance, and data governance, Julie is well-positioned to identify and address technical considerations that may influence deal structure, diligence, or integration. She brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to deal execution and excels in her ability to manage timelines, workflows, and stakeholder communications with precision and efficiency.
Prior to pursuing a career in law, Julie held roles in public policy and strategic partnerships management across the public and non-profit sectors. Drawing on her background in coding and professional training in user experience (UX) design, she brings a unique perspective to digital and technology products, actively integrating new tools to advance efficiency and innovation in legal practice. This multidisciplinary foundation enables her to deliver practical, business-oriented advice with clarity and agility, while effectively aligning the interests of stakeholders across industries and sectors.
A strong proponent of diversity in the legal community, Julie is an active member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL), Ascend Canada, and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Her fluency in Mandarin further supports this commitment, enabling her to contribute meaningfully to cross-border transactions and to serve clients engaged with the Firm’s Asia Pacific Practice Group.
Julie holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, a Master of Public Administration from Western University, and a Bachelor of Management from Nanjing University. She also completed the Osgoode Certificate in Blockchains, Smart Contracts and the Law, as well as Negotiating and Drafting IT Agreements. Julie summered and articled with the firm, during which she completed a secondment with the Ontario Securities Commission, before returning as an associate.
