Katie Mckenzie is an articling student and recent graduate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba.
In her third year, Katie served as the President of the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law Business Law Group. Katie was also the recipient of the Muriel St. John Research Award for Women's Legal Issues for a paper written in her third year. Throughout her time in law school, Katie also worked as a program facilitator for LEVEL Justice’s Indigenous Youth Outreach Program, served as a 1L representative on the Manitoba Law Student’s Association, and worked as a research assistant focusing on the area of Indigenous Economic Development.
Prior to law school, Katie received her Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Manitoba. During her undergraduate degree, she also worked as a research assistant through the department of Indigenous Studies and History. Katie has also worked closely with the Urban Indigenous community in Winnipeg through her active participation in various roles with the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc.
Outside of work and school, Katie enjoys curling both at a recreational and competitive level. She has previously represented Manitoba as the 2021 Junior Women’s Provincial Champions at the World Junior Qualifier Competition and has competed at various provincial competitions.
