Laurie Turner is the Leader of Fasken’s Health Law Group and a trusted advisor to organizations across the health sector. She maintains an active corporate and commercial practice, with a particular focus on advising health industry clients in both the for‑profit and not‑for‑profit sectors.
Laurie regularly advises on complex corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance, including the regulation of healthcare facilities and providers, and corporate governance matters. Her governance work includes advising on the establishment and ongoing operation of charitable and not‑for‑profit organizations. While in private practice, Laurie has gained valuable, hands‑on insight into the health system through secondments with hospital and shared‑services organization clients.
Laurie’s work in health law and the not‑for‑profit sector has been recognized by Chambers and Best Lawyers.
Laurie is a graduate of Queen’s University Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto (with Distinction) and served as an Executive Research Assistant to the Canada Research Chair in Breast Cancer at Sunnybrook & Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. She also worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
