Toronto (Canada) – Fasken Martineau, a leading international business law and litigation firm, is pleased to announce that partner Guy Giorno has been appointed Integrity Commissioner for the City of Dryden, Ontario, effective January 1.
The Integrity Commissioner is a part-time position responsible for investigating and reporting on complaints under the city’s “Council Code of Conduct.” The City of Dryden is strategically located in the heart of Canada on the heavily travelled Trans-Canada Highway, midway between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario. It lies North of the United States border crossing at International Falls, Minnesota. Dryden is the smallest community in Ontario to be designated as a city.
A bill currently before Ontario's Legislative Assembly would, if passed, require every municipality to appoint an integrity commissioner and expand the role of the position.
Giorno also serves as Integrity Commissioner for the Ontario municipalities of Dufferin County, Orangeville, Grand Valley, Shelburne, Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Melancthon and, effective Jan. 1, the Regional Municipality of Durham.
