“Industry concerned about DC Pension Litigation Risk” by Benefits and Pensions Monitor

Benefits and Pensions Monitor quotes Toronto lawyer Peggy McCallum in an article about pension litigation risk.

With the growing significance of defined contribution (DC) plans in Canada, industry associations and regulators are now expressing concern about litigation risk, says Peggy A. McCallum, a partner with Fasken and leader of the firm’s pensions and benefits group. Speaking at the Fasken Institute ‘Pensions & Benefits and Litigation Seminar,’ she said the concerns expressed – by agencies such as the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO), the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) – include decumulation, fees, lack of member understanding, and appropriate investments.
