Ottawa Partner and Co-Leader of Fasken’s National Security Group, Marcia Mills, discusses the expanding opportunities resulting from the federal government’s increased defence spending, as well as efforts by local stakeholders to position Canada’s capital as a centre for defence and security innovation, in an article published in the Ottawa Business Journal.
She notes that the current policy environment marks a significant turning point for the sector.
“In my 30 years of practice, this is the most optimistic I have been that we’re actually moving defence forward in a meaningful way. (…) Ottawa is so well positioned to become a defence hub because we already have a strong base of law firms with experience in defence and federal procurement more broadly,” said Partner Marcia Mills.
