Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)

Navigating the EDI journey is complex. Whether you are just starting down the EDI path or already have a sophisticated understanding of EDI principles, EDI initiatives require careful planning, continuous reflection, and strategic advice. That’s where we come in.

Overview

Fostering EDI means intentionally engaging with your people through commitments and actions, and we can assist you in integrating equity into your day-to-day operations.

As a leader in the advisory work underlying EDI, we are at the forefront of the increasingly important dialogues around EDI initiatives.

How we can help:

  • No matter where you are in your EDI journey, we can enable progress by identifying gaps and opportunities in your current practices, including through an EDI audit.
  • When setting up or monitoring an EDI program, we can guide and help you feel confident about what data you can collect and how.
  • Where applicable, we can help you apply for approval and recognition of your programs so that you know they will meet the high standards set under human rights legislation.
  • We can work with your team to help draft, update, and execute policies that proactively identify and prevent issues before they happen.
  • As the successful integration of EDI strategies requires knowledge and buy-in at all levels of an organization, we regularly provide training and advice to clients and their teams on all aspects of EDI and EDI-related initiatives.
  • If your organization is having challenges in the EDI space, our diverse group of lawyers is uniquely positioned to sensitively and effectively investigate EDI-related workplace complaints, and our seasoned litigators can provide representation both at various administrative tribunals and in the courts.

Members of our EDI Practice are all personally and professionally committed to advancing EDI initiatives in the workplace. Some lawyers are members of Fasken’s own EDI Committee and affinity groups, embedding the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in Fasken’s culture.
