Overview

Client

Humber River Hospital

Karen Sargeant and Alyssa LeBlanc defended Humber River Hospital’s decision to terminate a nurse after she stole narcotics that should have been provided to patients. Although the arbitrator ruled that the decision to terminate violated the nurse’s human rights because she suffered from a drug addiction (even though it was not known to the Hospital at the time of termination), reinstatement was not appropriate given the nurse’s continued dishonesty.
