Overview

Client

Humber River Hospital

Jackie VanDerMeulen successfully defended Humber River Hospital against a grievance challenging the Hospital’s longstanding name badge practice. The arbitrator found that the Hospital’s name badge practice struck a reasonable balance between patient, Hospital and employee interests and furthermore that it was consistent with applicable privacy and health and safety legislation. This decision is an important precedent for other Hospitals, many of which have similar practices.
