Vincent Laforest-Lapointe is a member of the firm’s Corporate/Commercial group. His practice focuses on venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, corporate and business law and issues related to startups.
Vincent works with a variety of enterprises ranging from startups to private medium to large businesses, at every stage of their development. He has advised private and institutional investors and entrepreneurs in connection with provincial, national and international transactions. Vincent is particularly interested in the emerging technology sector and handles financing rounds and corporate organization for startups.
Vincent Laforest-Lapointe’s practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, corporate and business law matters. Vincent has handled provincial, national and international transactions involving the information technology, agri-food, engineering, automobile, insurance and financial services industries. He has also advised start-ups in relation to venture capital financing.
Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law
In addition to advising clients on the protection of their intellectual property rights, he has participated in a number of complex patent disputes. Vincent was part of a team representing Umano Médical Inc. in a cross-border patent infringement lawsuit against Stryker Corporation before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Federal Court of Canada. He has also appeared in unfair competition and trademark and copyright infringement lawsuits before the Superior Court.
Vincent co-founded the firm’s Video Game group and has a keen interest in drafting and reviewing contracts specific to the entertainment industry, such as terms and conditions for software, websites and open source licenses.
Vincent joined the Fasken team as a student in May 2015 after completing bar school at the École du Barreau in Québec City, where he obtained the highest overall mark.
