Drawing on experience in regulated industries and public facing projects, Mathias helps clients navigate urgent injunctions, commercial disputes and appeals with a clear, business-minded, and practical advocacy style.
Mathias maintains a broad commercial litigation practice and has experience with complex, high profile disputes across industries, with experience involving public infrastructure, securities, product liability, commercial arbitrations, and contractual and tort disputes as well as public law matters. Mathias regularly acts on judicial reviews and appeals and has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the federal courts, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Called to the Ontario bar (2023), Mathias earned his JD at Osgoode Hall Law School where he completed placements at The 519 Community Centre (Toronto) and the Centre for Law and Democracy (Halifax), served on the executive of Osgoode’s Pro Bono Students Canada chapter, and received the Bereskin & Parr LLP Prize for the highest standing in Patent Law. Before law school he studied music and computer science at the University of Toronto, where he served as president of the student government.
Still active in the community, Mathias serves as President of Start Proud and sits on the board of directors of Toronto Jewish Music Week; he also co founded the Canadian Association of 2SLGBTQ+ Lawyers.
