Anthony Sylvain advises financial institutions, insurers, brokers and other insurance intermediaries, asset managers, cooperatives and companies operating in regulated sectors. A partner in the Corporate/Commercial practice group at the Montréal office, his practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions of private companies, corporate reorganizations, equity financings, and the drafting and negotiation of shareholder agreements, limited partnership agreements and other complex commercial agreements.
Anthony assists clients with acquisitions, sales, investments, reorganizations and strategic partnerships. He also counsels them on structuring, governance, compliance and regulatory matters, including their dealings with regulatory authorities.
His approach takes into account his clients’ business objectives and industry-specific constraints. His work regularly involves matters requiring an integrated approach to legal, financial, commercial and regulatory considerations.
Prior to joining Fasken, Anthony began his career in the tax law group of a large national firm.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil law (LLB ) and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Université de Sherbrooke. He also obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation, jointly offered by Université de Montréal and HEC Montréal, and has passed Level I of the CFA program. Anthony is recognized in Chambers Canada 2026 as an “Up and Coming” lawyer in the Insurance: Transactional & Regulatory category.
