Overview

Bruce practises in all areas of labour and employment law. He is an experienced litigator, regularly defending employers against wrongful dismissal claims, employment standards complaints, human rights complaints and grievance arbitrations.

Bruce is committed to providing clients with practical and strategic advice when it comes to handling the workplace. This includes the enforcement of restrictive covenants, fiduciary duties, executive compensation, employee misconduct, severance analysis, human rights accommodation and legislative compliance.

Bruce also conducts neutral workplace investigations on sensitive topics such as theft, breach of workplace policies, harassment and discrimination.

Bruce's practice also includes advising on the transactional aspects of labour and employment law, including corporate reorganizations and mergers and acquisitions. He regularly drafts and analyzes employment agreements, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements, separation agreements and workplace policies.

Bruce has appeared before the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission and the WCB Appeals Commission.

A born and raised Calgarian, Bruce is a graduate from the University of British Columbia, The London School of Economics and the University of Calgary. He is a former press secretary to the Mayor of Ottawa.
