Dane is an Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer licensed in BC and Ontario, and a registered patent agent. He regularly manages sophisticated, global IP portfolios and guides clients through often-complex systems across jurisdictions to secure valuable patents and industrial designs for a broad range of technologies, with particular emphasis on mechanical, industrial, and high-tech innovations. Dane helps clients to achieve success by developing IP strategies aligned with their business goals, and by supporting commercialization through IP due diligence, assignments, and licensing.
Dane brings over a decade of legal experience to his practice, with a strong focus on patent services for clients ranging in size from startups to scaleups to multinational corporations. He has worked extensively with aerospace, automotive, energy, transportation, food and beverage, telecommunication, and consumer goods companies. Dane routinely provides patentability opinions and has obtained dozens of patents for his clients, helping them secure their IP advantage over competitors and promote market success.

Dane is actively involved with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), the largest Canadian association of intellectual property practitioners, and is a past chair of IPIC’s Public Awareness Committee. Outside of his professional engagements, Dane enjoys spending time with his family, playing board games, and painting miniatures.
