Workshop 1
This seminar will allow participants to review the most significant legislative changes currently affecting Québec workplaces and anticipate those likely to shape their practices in the coming months.
The discussion will include recent amendments to the Labour Code, such as the new timelines for grievance processing, new mediation-related obligations, stricter requirements regarding the disclosure of evidence in arbitration, and various measures aimed at accelerating the settlement of disputes in unionized workplaces. In recent negotiations, several unions have sought amendments to collective agreements.
The proposed union governance reforms will also be analyzed from the perspective of their impact on employers, particularly regarding new financial transparency requirements for unions, as well as proposed changes relating to strike votes and the ratification of collective agreements, which could directly influence negotiation strategies and the course of labour disputes.
Lastly, this seminar will also provide an opportunity to discuss emerging issues related to artificial intelligence in the workplace. Topics will include emerging legislative and regulatory trends, the risks associated with the use of AI in human resources management, and best practices to help organizations prepare now for future changes.
