On January 30, 2006, Pender Financial Group Corporation announced that it had entered into an agreement with Sophos, Inc., a subsidiary of Sophos Plc., to acquire the business, assets and liabilities of the ActiveState division of Sophos, Inc. for a purchase price of US$2,250,000. ActiveState is a leading provider of tools and services for dynamic software languages used for web development. Sophos is the world leader in integrated threat management solutions purpose-built for business, education, government and service providers. Sophos was advised in this transaction by a team from Fasken Martineau comprised of Iain Mant, Keith Spencer, Lorene Novakowski, Frank Schober and Sonya Reiss.
