The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires employers to provide training to at least two members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), one representing management and one representing workers.
The first step in complying with the Part Two Certification process is for the employer to complete a workplace hazard assessment to determine "significant hazards". JHSC members who successfully complete Part One training are required to receive further training on the "significant hazards" specific to their workplace.
This course reviews the common "significant hazards" of an office workplace, in accordance with Ministry of Labour certification criteria. Office workplace hazard identification, assessment and control is the focus of this course. The legal requirements set out in the Regulations for Industrial Establishments, O. Reg. 851 that pertain to the "significant hazards" will be reviewed. Participants will also learn how to complete the process for becoming a certified member of the JHSC.
