Background
The Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (PDF, 496 Ko) (Law 25, formerly Bill 64) was adopted on September 21, 2021.
Law 25, which comes into effect gradually between September 2021 and 2024, modernizes the obligations incumbent on public bodies and businesses in the private sector with respect to protecting personal information. It is important to closely monitor this Law, which will impose new obligations on Québec businesses while significantly increasing the powers of the Commission d’accès à l’information.
