Morgan Guyot practises business law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions in the Corporate/Commercial group in the firm’s Montréal office. Qualified in three jurisdictions (Québec, Paris and New York), he assists clients in North America and Europe with their cross-border expansion and growth transactions.
His practice covers a wide array of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, strategic partnerships and restructurings. He advises a diverse clientele, including major international groups, investment funds, family businesses and medium-sized enterprises. He assists both Québec and Canada-based clients with their expansion into global markets, and foreign investors, mainly European and American, with their plans to set up and grow their businesses in Canada.
Morgan has sector-specific experience in the areas of entertainment and media (special effects, video games, immersive experiences), energy transition, engineering and construction, transport and mobility, and agrifood. His clients particularly appreciate his strategic perspective, pragmatic approach, diplomatic skills and ability to easily navigate different legal systems and cultural contexts.
Prior to joining Fasken, Morgan practised in Paris for two years with an American firm, followed by five years with an international French firm.
He is also active in several professional organizations, including the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA), the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie française au Canada (CIFC) and the American Bar Association (ABA), where he regularly provides insights on cross-border investment issues.
In addition to leading complex transactions, Morgan has deep knowledge of the rules governing foreign investment and key free trade agreements, such as CETA, USMCA.
He regularly acts as a mentor in the “Le Transatlantique” accelerator program, assisting young European companies in launching their operations in Canada.
