“‘It’s often a neglected aspect of restructuring’, notes Luc Morin. ‘Employers tend to take for granted that their employees will stay on, whatever the outcome. But in fact, many of them feel that their jobs are on the line’. To preserve employees’ sense of belonging to the company, Morin recommends that management maintains a high level of transparency with regard to the process and that it provides for the setting up of retention bonuses or an incentive plan (profit-sharing or stock-ownership programs).”
