Québec (Canada) – Fasken is pleased to announce the return of the Honourable Jean Lemelin as legal counsel in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group.
Mtre Lemelin started his litigation career in 1973 and was one of the founding partners of Martineau Walker in Québec (now Fasken) in 1983. During his career as a lawyer, he built up a practice in civil and commercial law and distinguished himself as a litigator before courts in all jurisdictions. He also practiced telecommunications law before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). In 1996, Mtre Lemelin was appointed as a judge of the Superior Court of Québec. While acting in this capacity, he heard numerous important cases, including class actions, and presided over many case management hearings as well as numerous settlement conferences.
“We are pleased that Jean is returning to the firm after serving for more than 25 years on the bench. An exceptional litigator and negotiator, he was a true pioneer when settlement conferences first began to be used. His vast experience both in litigation and dispute resolution mechanisms will undoubtedly serve our clients well,” said Carl Tremblay, Managing Partner of the Québec City office.
“Jean’s contribution in the legal sphere is exceptional. His recognized expertise in commercial litigation will be a great asset for the firm’s clients and will contribute to the strength of our litigation team. For Fasken, it is a privilege to welcome Jean to the team,” said Éric Bédard, Managing Partner for the Québec region.
