“Canada is ditching retaliatory tariffs, but relief at the grocery store may take time,ˮ by Barbara Shecter, Financial Post

Ottawa Partner and Chair of Fasken’s International Trade and Investment Group, Clifford Sosnow, comments on Canada’s decision to remove retaliatory tariffs on certain American goods in an article published in the Financial Post.

He explains that consumers will continue to feel the impact of those counter-tariffs for some time because grocery and consumer operations tend to purchase on forward contracts where prices are locked in.

“Even if the tariffs are removed for many goods on September 1, the cost impact may continue to be felt for many months,” said Partner, Clifford Sosnow.
